Welcome to the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine's Neuromuscular Diagnostic Laboratory
The Neuromuscular Diagnostic Lab at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine is dedicated to the diagnosis and advancement of our understanding of muscle disorders in large animals. We strive to provide the most accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan for our patients.
Muscle biopsies are evaluated in frozen sections using a variety of tinctorial and histochemcial stains. DNA from blood and tissue samples is also evaluated for glycogen branching enzyme deficiency (GBED). Over 200 muscle biopsies a year are evaluated to characterize muscle diseases and provide treatment recommendations.
